Warming Shelter Volunteers
St. Luke Members pitched in for a week for the Emergency Homeless Shelter in Culpeper. They provided overnight chaperones, cooked dinner, set out breakfast, and even stayed longer to keep the shelter all day during the storm!
The Warming Shelter is organized by the Culpeper Co. Ministerial Association. So far they have served 80 individuals in our community this year for at least one night of accommodation. They are operated entirely by volunteers, donations, and the generosity of those in our community.

A busy night at the church
The St Luke Lutheran Church building was hopping tonight! Here’s a glimpse of one moment of ministry in God’s name:
In the upstairs classrooms, St. Luke Church had a planning session with many new, creative ideas for the next three years. Downstairs, in the kitchen, church volunteers pulled donated pork and heated up rolls for dinner. In the classrooms and out in the trailer, more volunteers handed out mattresses and sheets for the Warming shelter. In the sanctuary, the Culpeper Hispanic 7th Day Adventist Church, a congregation that shares our building, held worship and praise. And across the street, the St Luke School parking lot was packed for their dinner and raffle. Wow!
Thanks be to God for the many ways we are being a part of the body of Christ, sharing God’s love, and serving all people!

Ash Wednesday Service
Service will be held at 7pm in the Sanctuary on Wednesday February 13, 2013. 1200 Old Rixeyville Road, Culpeper, VA 20110.
The image below is by John Pobojewski and is available here. He says, ““Remember That You Are Dust” is one of the most spiritually moving phrases that I have ever heard. Ash Wednesday has always been especially meaningful to me in how it expresses the most basic of ideals: that we will all rejoin the earth at the end of our days. While it feels very dark to think about death, the realization that we all will end up as dust is at once comforting and humbling.”
